“Growing up in California and taking car trips with my family allowed me to see a lot of this imagery. By the 60’s and 70’s, I noticed that much of it was starting to fade away. All of the things I witnessed then started to make me think that some day I would like to record those things. So now I am.”
Who is this guy?
Dennis Ziemienski, a native San Franciscan, graduated
cum laude from the California College of Arts and Crafts.
He is an internationally known painter, illustrator and designer. His paintings have been in numerous one man and group exhibitions and have won many awards. His work is part of the permanent collections of many art museums in the U.S., including: Booth Museum, Tucson Museum of Art, Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West, Bakersfield Museum of Art, Whitney Western Art Museum, and the Hilbert Art Museum of California Art at Chapman University.
Ziemienski has taught at the California College of Arts and Crafts and the Academy of Art in San Francisco. He has held studios in California and New York.
His strong and richly colored images borrow much of their inspiration from early 20th century paintings and posters.
Today, you can find him in the studio, working on pieces for upcoming gallery and museum shows, commissioned paintings, and large scale murals. He released his first book, The Art of Dennis Ziemienski in 2024 and presented a major Retrospective Show at Medicine Man Gallery in Tucson December 2024.
Ziemienski participates in annual shows with his represented galleries, and he and wife Anne take time to enjoy travel with their daughter Sofia and her partner Nate when they can.
